The best part of my stay at El Mundito was definitely the people. Guests and volunteers were amazing, warm and lovely. Unfortunately, the physical condition of the place doesn't quite match what's shown in photos or on social media. Many things were visibly broken, like the floor in the room and some furniture, and the common areas were consistently dirty. I ended up cleaning up dust and trash myself multiple times just to be able to use the space or work from my laptop. Other guests were doing the same in the kitchen. We asked the owner for help with cleaning but didn't get any support. During my stay I also experienced recurring issues with electricity and water. There were times we had no power or water for multiple days in a row, and this happened almost every week. On those days, several of us, myself included, had to find somewhere else to work remotely. No refund, compensation, or solution was offered, so we ended up paying extra. Reaching out to the owner was also difficult. Responses often only happened the next day no matter how urgent the problem was, which made it really hard to handle things as they came up. I had originally planned to stay for a few months, but the experience became exhausting and I decided to leave earlier than planned.
