I have spent 6 months at collective old oak and this is my genuine opinion: - my checkin experience was terrible due a front desk lady called Tia. A Finnish lady absolutely unfriendly not hepatic as the scandi use to are. This individual continued with a negative behaviour to the point that I have reported her but she still in the management team. Crazy. - I have rented a "studio" which in the end was large as much as the other room with the exception that I had a kitchenette that was ridicolously small good only to make a cup of tea. - very limited space. When I mean limited space I do mean Very Limited! - Shared kitchen are ok but often messy or occupied from small groups having dinners and staying there for ages.. - Few times during the middle of the night fire alarm went on because of someone joking with it! everyone was called to go down at 3am! absolutely unacceptable! - Shared spaces are ok but again very young silly collectivists do not understand the sharing concept. They occupy these spaces all the time shouting and simply acting odd. - Collective tend to let you spend even more money with the grill bar (even if discounted) and with the shop around the corner which is well over priced. The gym in the same building closed down after few months without refunding anyone! ok was a different company however had a strong link with the collective. A black guy (trainer) doing some lesson there was absolutely rude, aggressive and odd. Except with ladies of course .. - The Collectivists: being very honest the collective is populated by youngsters that do not have enough cash to rent a proper space OR they got some mental illness. I personally saw far too many of them in fact I was not socialising with anyone except with the staff of the grill bar which were lovely. Some of the native english speakers at collective are clearly racist as they do not mix with foreigners as the brits usually do actually.. - Internal "mafia": a small group made of collectivists and staff was leading the scene there and when my friends applied to become ambassadors even if they helped with voluntary works and they got extremely great reference they got denied. Guess who got the role then? some of these guys being part of this group! - Unreasonable rent fee: the "studio" costed me £1260 all included. Absolutely over rated! considering the sauna closed down for renovation many months, gym was to pay on top of rent, grill bar was a part of it, everything is quite small there so it can get overcrowded easy and the events spaces are often booked to external organisations in order to generate an additional source of revenue to the Collective. In conclusion: if you are 25ys old max and you are just arrived in London planning to stay there for few months and move out maybe go for it but do not get involved with that sort of lifestyle otherwise you risks to become a worthless loser as many of the guys living there..
