Welcoming coliving in the heart of Laureles, in my opinion the best neighbourhood to stay in. Really strong community and lot's going on. The hosts Joe and Diana do a fantastic job of making you feel welcome and part of the family. Definitely recommend staying, especially if its your first time in Colombia/Medellín. This is already my second time and I'll surely be back!

We loved staying at Balu, our trip wouldn’t have been the same had we not stayed there because we met so many lovely people and bonded so quickly. Also love that it’s always clean and they clean your room once a week. Joe & Diana are lovely hosts and make a big effort to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I spent 3 months at Balu and it was a great experience. The house is beautiful, the location is perfect, close to many things and safe. Joe and Diana always make sure everything is in order and resolve any issues that may arise. The people are friendly and there are always things to do. I highly recommend it 🩷

I had a wonderful two months staying at Balu, which was the perfect introduction to Medellín. The people at Balu were a great group, and it was a lovely space to work and socialise. Joe and Diana are fantastic hosts - very friendly and attentive, and always on hand if you need tips and help!

If you're in Medellín for a couple of weeks or longer, and are looking for a co-living setup, Balu is THE place!. Location: Laureles is brilliant, and the house is perfectly located just off La 70 (the main street). Not too close that it's noisy, but near enough to explore all of the great restaurants, bars, salsa venues easily. All sorts of amenities within walking distance, and good transport links to the rest of the city. Accommodation: Spacious rooms, perfect for making it feel your own space (i.e. not like a hotel/hostel!). The house is really clean and everyone takes great care of it - it also really feels like a 'home', with shared living space, roof terrace and kitchen. Diana and Joe are properly attentive, caring and knowledgable hosts who are clearly really proud of Balu and make every effort to ensure the people living there get to know each other and aren't just passing strangers who move in and out. If you need anything, they are on hand to help out. Extras: When you move in you are added to their WhatsApp community which has all sorts of amazing things going on. Run clubs, hiking trips, language exchanges, events, salsa, food recommendations, volleyball, etc! I arrived into Medellín completely solo and it was the perfect way to meet Colombians as well as get to know other foreigners who are living/working in Medellín. I stayed here in September/October 2025, but ended up staying in Medellín for over 6 months (I had pre-arranged my own apartment) but still felt part of Balu because of the friends I made through these groups! I’ve stayed at Balu multiple times since I’ve been coming to Colombia & it’s been one of my best choices since traveling. The house is beautiful, clean & felt right at home. A great base for remote work as well, desks in all the rooms, perfect WiFi & most people staying there were also working remote so everyone is on the same vibe. Joe & Diana do an incredible job of making everyone feel welcome and connected. Balu gave me friends & connections that I’ve kept for years. 10/10 , you can tell the effort and care that Joe and Diana put into this to make it a home

I can't imagine there is a better place in Medellin for Digital nomads! Amazing! If you work online or are looking to spend longer in Medellin then Balu Coliving is perfect. Great wifi and internet cable in your bedroom where there's a good sized desk and lovely chair. I also liked to work on the balcony and hear the birds tweet in tune with the hectic city life. Joe and Diana are brilliant and helped me out specifically when I needed help extending my tourist visa! Also they organised lovely gatherings for the birthdays of the guests and all of us always went. We all got on really well and most of us extended because we didn't want to leave the community we had built. Medellin is amazing and this is definitely somewhere where I'd recommend. I've worked remotely for many years and haven't come across a place where I felt so comfortable, safe and welcome than Balu Coliving. I love to join the Run Club and other events that Joe and Diana organise around the city. Always safe, nice people and I met some great friends.

As a remote copywriter/communication advisor, I stayed at Balu for nearly two months. This was my third visit to Medellín, but definitely the best one. With Balu as my base: a great place to live and work, and an organizer of many great activities where you meet lots of people. Exactly the combination I was looking for, made possible by Balu. Highly recommended!

Staying at Balu truly made my Medellin experience so special and memorable. The house itself is lovely and super comfortable, and I got lucky to meet a bunch of nice people there. But what really made the difference is how invested Diana and Joe are, they really take care of you and it made a huge difference feeling like I had their support and help if needed. It didn't feel like a big business being run for profit, Balu really came to feel like home. Plus they're fun people to hang out with! Thanks so much for such a great stay xx

I’ve spent eight years as a digital nomad and backpacker, and in that time, Balu has consistently ranked among the best places I’ve experienced. They offer high-quality accommodation at fair prices in a prime Laurelles location. The environment strikes a great balance: it’s clean and respectful for work during the day, yet lively enough in the evenings to connect with fellow nomads over a beer or at a dance class. The owners are exceptionally friendly and always go the extra mile to help. I highly recommend Balu above any other Coliving in Medellín.

I stayed at Balu for 6 weeks in early 2025. The rooms are nice, the facilities and shared spaces are super clean, and the company was great! Jo and Diana go above and beyond trying to make their guest's experiences amazing. They organize weekly activities like movie nights, BBQs, hikes, dinners, and even take you around town to show you around. I felt so blessed having them around to give me tips for activities, food spots, and making feel at home. I would highly recommend and will be back next time in in Medellin.

Balu is a gem is beautiful city! I loved my time there - the space was so nice and clean, the community was fun and exciting, and the hosts were active and engaged! Would completely return!

Highly recommend staying here if you need a place to stay and look to meet other like-minded people. This places made my stay in Medellin a trip I will never forget!

I'm coming to the end of my 3 month stay here in Balu, and it has to be one of the best co-living spaces i've lived in throughout my travels. In terms of what the hosts (Joe & Diana) do to integrate the guests into the space and organising trips & social events it is unlike any other stay i've experienced - they really want you to enjoy your time in the space and within Medellin. They will go out of their way to help you and make you feel comfortable. I stayed in the Studio and any problem encountered was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The space itself is beautiful and well designed, each room has it's own individuality. The bed i had was incredibly comfortable and the attention to detail within the spaces makes it feel warm, comfortable and homely. We had a really good group of guests throughout the course of my time here and will remain in contact with them. The social BBQ's on the rooftop mixed with sunsets and the hot tub with a few beers definitely were a highlight! Someone is always organising something if you want to engage and make new friends, and if you want to experience new things, try new brunch/coffee/restaurant spots, go on hiking adventures, join the run club, or relax in the comfortable spaces within the house you'd be sure not to miss out on this opportunity to stay. I'll miss the space - but as i'm moving close by i'll be sure to visit and stay in touch with everyone! I thank everyone who added to my time here in some way, and the adventures we've shared!!!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Balu, a time that I will never forget. Joe and Diana are truely special people that have cultivated a community that will make you feel welcome and a part of a family from the moment you arrive in Medellin. The location is in the heart of Laureles - near restaurants, cafes, bars, gyms and more. On top of all of this, internet is very important for me when choosing accomodation - and I was able to work from here without any issues. When I return to Medellin, I know I will be staying here again!

Balu Coliving is one of my favorite coliving spots in the world—and I've stay at over 10 of them across 4 continents. The rooms look *exactly* like the pictures, which is rare in the hospitality industry! It's beautifully decorated, with plants everywhere and a peaceful vibe. Joe and Diana are fun, friendly, and down-to-earth, while also remaining on top of everything (it's clean and incredibly well organized). There are reasonable rules in place to ensure a tranquil environment where people can work, relax, and enjoy life. They also have plenty of fun events to build community, and they attract great people. I booked here for 6 weeks to see what it was like, and ended up booking for 6+ months. If you're open, friendly, respectful, and responsible, and clean, it's a great place to stay.

Loved my stay at Balu! Great common spaces and comfortable rooms plus the owners are wonderful and help you out with anything you need. The location in Laureles is perfect, close to lots of shops and restaurants but not in the busy tourist areas.

If you don't want to go through a bad situation, don't make your reservation here. They cancelled my reservation 1 day before my check in. Furthermore, the contract you are required to sign only benefits their side and penalizes the contractor's side.

Joe and Diana have put a lot of care into this place and it shows! They make sure each one of the guests is comfortable and enjoys their stay. Made great friends while staying here and would recommend! The location is amazing as well

I've been trying to figure out what makes Balu such a different coliving experience, and as far as I'm concerned the best place for an extended digital nomad stay in Medellín. You could argue its the exceptionally well-equipped rooms, comfortable beds and homely furnishings. You could say its the location at the heart of Laureles, within a stones throw of cafes, restaurants, bars, banks and stores. Or perhaps the reliable high-speed Internet connection? The sun-trap rooftop, or cosy balcony? The reality is all of these things are great, but the secret sauce is the time and effort Joe and Diana put into nurturing the house dynamic, ensuring that everyone staying at Balu is well catered for, that the group is able to bond organically and a real little community is able to develop during your time there. That's what sets Balu apart, and I can't wait to be back!

Balu Coliving is an incredible co living space with amazing owners. Joe & Diana have created an amazing culture at Balu and filter out the right types of people. They are always making an effort to bring together everyone in the co living for different trips, experiences and celebrations for different holidays throughout the year. I stayed at Balu in September and October, it was my first time travelling and honestly I couldn’t think of a better place to be. Not only is the house and location itself fantastic, but Joe and Diana instantly made me feel part of a family, which for me was so important as I feared the loneliness of travelling solo. A beautiful spot in a wonderful city, no doubt I will be back!

Balu is by far the best choice for coliving in Medellin. I’ve been working remotely and travelling the world for 2 years, and I can say that Balu has been my favourite coliving experience. The atmosphere makes it easy to make new friends, and participate in many hobbies and day trips. Practical wise, every room has AC, en-suite bathroom, TV and a large desk - ideal for working. Plus the owners are super friendly and helpful. Look forward to returning some day!!
